Student Life

"I STARTED A diploma of Counseling at the beginning of 2002, one unit at a time. As I progressed, I increased my study load and now I only have one semester to complete. Everything, absolutely everything studied at Tabor has impacted my spiritual development. Some particular highlights for me were starting every lecture with prayer, the amazing grace of lecturers churning through theological facts and gently illuminating it all by the presence of Jesus, feedback and encouragement from staff and fellow students, finding out that indeed it is ALL about Jesus, even in counseling.

I thoroughly recommend Tabor as a place to study. I am addicted and plan to maintain personal development of one unit per semester because my study appetite has increased. "

"I cant believe that it has been more than two years since I first reluctantly walked through the doors at Tabor. I say reluctantly because I came kicking and screaming in utter protest to God. To me, self preservation and the avoidance of suffering was a priority in life; coming to Tabor was going against the grain, and it hurt. But in my heart I knew God had called me, and despite all manner of advise and protestations from family and friends, God enabled me to stand firm and follow Him.

I can recall sitting in my first lecture with Chris Johnstone, perusing over his nice, easy workload thinking did I really hear God rightly; God cant possibly expect me to do this module as well as another two? How could I manage study when I had two kids under the age of three and a newborn who was all of two days old? What was I thinking? If not for the grace of God, I would have walked out and given the whole exercise of study a miss there and then. But somehow God had supplanted me to the chair, and try as I might, I simply could not stand up. It was only then that I knew God had a purpose for me being at Tabor, and for the first time in ages, I had a joy in my heart; God was fulfilling His purposes through and in me for the greater good of His glory.

So here I am two years on, still going strong in Him. Trusting and persevering in faith has been the key. So take heart all you fellow students and potential fellow students and know that God is faithful. He will give you the strength and discipline to persevere through every essay and tutorial. "
